Privacy Policy for Glass Opticians

Effective Date: October 2024

Glass Opticians ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you visit our website, [www.glassopticians.com] (the “Site”).

Glass Opticians engages in the provision of all types of eye care, including sight testing, the supply and monitoring of spectacles and/or contact lenses. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires all organisations that process personal data have a lawful basis for doing so. In order to carry out our work we are obliged to hold personal data relating to our patients, both for private and NHS work.  At all times this information is stored sensitively, both on a secure computer system and on paper files. At no time is any of this information shared with any other parties, except where it is necessary to pass on information to other healthcare professionals where clinically necessary, and only then with the patient’s full knowledge and permission. As part of our duty of care we are also obliged to remind our patients when they are due to be recalled. These reminders are sent to the patient. In accordance with NHS regulations, we are obliged to store records for all patients for a minimum of 10 years, or where the patient is a child, until that person reaches the age of 25. Patients are entitled to ask for any information stored by us, and this will be supplied free of charge at any time. Once these time periods have elapsed, out of date records are disposed of appropriately.
